Whitney Houston and Dana Bash

Whitney Elizabeth Houston (born 9 August 1993 in Newark New Jersey) is the daughter of gospel star Cissy Houston. In Newark Whitney started singing in the church choir in the early years of her childhood. When she was 15 years old, she joined her mother in backing vocals in Chaka's smash Im Every Woman from 1978. In 1981, she worked as a fashion model, appearing on the Seventeen album cover. She also performed the backing vocals for Jermaine and Lou Rawls. Her vocals with the band from New York Material attracted major record labels, including Arista. The label signed her to Arista in 1983, where she spent the remainder of her career. Whitney Houston's debut Whitney Houston album was released in the year 1985. It would become one of the best-selling albums of an artist. A number of hit singles, such as The Greatest Love of All, Saving My Love For You How Do I know You Give Good Love as well as The Most Beautiful Love of All were released from the album, setting the stage for her to beat the Beatles with seven consecutive US numbers one. The album sold 3 million copies during its debut year in the US and then went on to achieve a worldwide sales of 25 million, earning her the first of her six Grammies. Whitney, her album Whitney, released in 1987 and featuring the smash tracks Where Do Broken Hearts go? and I Wanna Dance With Somebody, continued her earlier success. But it is The Bodyguard (1996) that established her as one of music's best sellers. The film itself as well as her performance in it were not highly praised the soundtrack album and her cover of the Dolly Parton song I Will Always Love You made the charts for albums and singles for months. It sold more than 44 million copies around the world. Their daughter Bobbi was born the month of March in 1993. This was the year following her wedding to Bobby Brown. At this point her use of drugs became well documented and she began using daily in 1996.
