Whitney Elizabeth Houston is a singer from Newark New Jersey on the 9th of August, 1963. Their parents include gospel superstars Cissy Houston(n e Emily Lee Drinkard) and John Russell Houston Jr. Whitney's cousin Dionne warwick also sings. In Newark, Whitney began singing with the church choir as a small child. When she was 15 years old, she joined her mother in the background vocals for Chaka's smash Im Every Woman from 1978.
